A magnificent exhibition homage to Charlie Chaplin for young and old at The Philharmonie de Paris

Who does not know the Tramp, that character with a swaying and quick gait with his duck feet, his bowler hat, his moustache and his cane ?
Behind this funny and endearing character, hides a talented actor / director / musician : Charlie Chaplin.

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of his birth, La Cité de la Musique - Philharmonie de Paris presents an exhibition : "The sound of Charlie Chaplin".
Its goal : to rediscover the work of Chaplin through his close relationship to music, dance and rhythm.

Child of music-hall artists, self-taught musician, Chaplin invented with the character of the Tramp a sound and poetic comic by using sound effects and music.
This music is an integral part of his filmic work : Chaplin composed all the soundtracks of his films starting from 1931.

This magnificent exhibition traces Charlie Chaplin's childhood and his career through works of art, rare documents, extracts from films and music.

This is an exhibition suited for families with a course specially designed for children (from 8 years) :
    - The children can dress as the Little Vagabond while they visit the exhibition.
    - Small doors and secret passages allow them to come and go between the different parts of the exhibition.
    - They can also do the sound effects for a silent movie, by operating the sound effects machines and recognize the sounds of wind, broken dishes and car engine (1900).
    - Children can also create their own Cubist painting "Charlot cubiste" as Fernand Léger did in 1924.

The modules throughout the exhibition are interactive and audible, easily understandable by everyone.
The exhibition is already underway and will continue until January 26th.

In short, a great opportunity to discover the portrait of Charlie Chaplin in music and review mythical scenes of cinema.
