The art of Pastel from Degas to Redon

The technique of pastel is without a doubt one of the most seductive techniques used in painting. The characteristics of the material and the wonderfulness of its colors are two of the major reasons behind the remarkable number of artists who opted for this technique to produce their masterpieces.

Until April 8th, 2018, the Petit Palais Paris, which is actually home to more than 200 pastels made by some of the most renowned artists in the world, puts on view 150 magnificent pieces out of its collection.

The works, which have rarely been shown to the public before due to their sensitivity to light and their fragility, are definitely a must-see. Among them, you will find outstanding works by Renoir, Gauguin, Degas, Lévy-Dhurmer, Ménard, Léandre, and many other iconic art figures who marked the art scene by the marvelous creations they produced and the brilliant creativity they showed.

"The Art of Pastel from Degas to Redon" runs from September 15th, 2017, until April 8th, 2018.
