Paris Celebrates the Louvre Pyramid's 30th Anniversary

There was a time when the Louvre pyramid felt like an exciting new wonder of the art world. This bold piece of modern architectural design placed the gallery back on the map. It is, therefore, hard to believe that this icon is about to celebrate its 30th birthday. It is older than many of the graduates and students of Parisian art schools that will have walked through it countless times.

The importance of this glass pyramid means that it deserves a big birthday party – which is precisely what the Louvre has planned. The celebrations, which started on the 29th of March, look at the structure from many different angles. There are art shows, photography exhibitions and a historical look-back at the event that brought the pyramid to life in the first place.
