Ecological Ice Skating Comes to Paris this Summer

Visitors to Paris will not want to miss the ecological "ice" skating rink that has temporarily been installed in the Parc de la Villette, which is located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Sponsored by the soft drink machine company Sodastream, visiors can enjoy the rink until July 1, 2012. The rink has been installed as part of Sodastream's partnership with the new film 'Ice Age 4.'

The rink is composed of a synthetic material that simulates the feel of real ice but will not melt and is reusable. The surface is supposed to provide virtually the same sensation as skating on ice. Guests staying at the Hotel Regencia can now try out the rink for themselves. The event is especially great for children as characters from the 'Ice Age' movie make special appearances at the rink. This experience is not just limited to kids, however, and even adults will have fun using the special skates that are provided in order to create the feeling on skating on ice skates.

Ice skating without the ice is a great summer activity for people of all ages. It is also good for the environment since the rink can be reused any number of times and does not require any cooling system, like standard ice rinks do. That is why this rink has earned its 'ecological' label.

The rink boasts a 250-square-meter surface, and Sodastream is providing a refreshment bar with drinks for skaters who work up a thirst. All of this is offered free as part of the promotion for the new 'Ice Age' sequel, which will be released in cinemas soon. This activity is also a great way to discover the Parc de la Villette, a tranquil park and venue for concerts and shows that offers carousels, cafés and a canal.
