A Dance of Movement, Light and 3D Images

Bud Blumenthal is an American choreographer who has worked in Europe since the 1990s. Combining poetic movement and athletic fluidity with new technologies, Blumenthal breathes life into the typically traditional art form of dance. From February 11 to 14, 2014 at the Théâtre National de Chaillot, the talented dancer and creator will once again show just how innovative dance can be.

In the solo show, 'Perfectiøn,' Blumenthal attempts to go on a journey that is both physical and spiritual. The artist began his conception of this piece with an undeniable paradox of our modern society: that we are becoming more and more entwined with technology advances while at the same time feeling a greater desire to become close with nature. Guests staying at one of the Sister Hotels Champs-Elysées can experience the results of this artistic exploration at the Théâtre National de Chaillot, not too far away from their rooms.

Using the 3D technology that is commonly seen in video games and even television, Blumenthal shows how our ways of perceiving art have evolved and can evolve thanks to such innovations. Debuting in 2014, 'Perfectiøn' is just the first in a two-part series of dance performances. In 2015, another piece called 'Leaves of Grass' will follow. Composed for six to eight dancers, 'Leaves of Grass will pick up where 'Perfectiøn' left off, integrating dance and 3D technology in an even more complex way.

With the help of digital artists, Bud Blumenthal brings his extraordinary vision to Paris, where it will be seen for the first time in the world. Visitors can therefore see the moves of a renowned choreographer as they interact with the abstract images projects onscreen.
